I love the dead too but i feel like they are completely drownding out the rest of the bands on here. I mean the dead will always dominate the batting average section of this site. is it possible in the future to put the dead on their own archive site and keep the current for everyone else?

please remember to keep a wide angle of focus. True the dead are new and taking a lot of bandwidth, but they are also new on the archive. If you look at this in the true nature of the archive project ... years, decades, etc. .. this moment will only be a blip.

In a month or so all the dead dust will settle and batting averages, download rates, etc will all return to normal. Want to know the future? look to the past: when the archive last had bandwidth problems, more bandwidth was purchased, machines were optimized, and the complaints dropped to 0. This will happen with this situation again, just with time and patience.

Just remember to be thankful that it only takes 2 days to download the latest tasty nugz of SKB and others. I know a friend who moved to a remote section of Russia. Now when he receives a single live disk of some show that happened months ago, he is happy to just have battery power to play it! Be thankful for this great immediate archive we have at our fingertips, and remain humble with how easily we can get shows now. Remember your forefathers of 'by hand' cassette trading at shows.

Tyler

I hope I did'nt come off in the wrong way. I am SOOOOO thankful for what the archive has turned into. This is the best site on the internet by far. You raise a good point though about the dust settling. I was just curious. Thanks

This isn't true. For the science behind battering averages, check out this paper:

But in short, the batting average will change, so don't you worry.

To me, this is a refreshing change over seeing the same Glen Phillips and Jack Johnson shows up there for 9 months straight... Oh wait, there it is again at the top of the list. Let's move Glen Phillips into his own personal Archive too so we don't have to see his name there anymore. :)
